What this calculator does

An Asian handicap gives one team a head start, or a deficit, measured in goals. Because the line can be a half or quarter goal, the draw disappears as a separate outcome. The trade-off is that settlement gets confusing. Depending on the line, your bet can win, lose, be refunded, or win or lose only half.

Type in the stake, the odds, the line and the final score. The calculator shows the score after the handicap, how the bet settles, and what you get back. A table underneath runs through the common scorelines so you can see in advance what your team needs to do.

Step by step

1
Stake
How much you’ve bet.
2
Odds
The decimal price for your side of the line.
3
Handicap line
For example -0.5, +1, -0.75 or 0.
4
Your team's goals
Goals scored by the side you backed.
5
Opponent's goals
Goals scored by the other side.
6
Settlement
The adjusted score, result, payout and profit or loss, plus the scenario table.

How lines settle

There are three kinds of line:

Whole lines: 0, +/-1, +/-2 (a refund is possible)
Half lines: +/-0.5, +/-1.5, +/-2.5 (win or lose, never a refund)
Quarter lines: +/-0.25, +/-0.75, +/-1.25 (stake split across two lines)

Adjusted Difference = Your Goals + Handicap – Opponent Goals

Whole and half lines:

Adjusted difference above 0: Win (Stake x Odds)
Exactly 0 (whole lines only): Push (stake refunded)
Below 0: Loss

Quarter lines split the stake in two. Half goes on each neighbouring line, and each half settles on its own. For example, -0.75 = half on -0.5 + half on -1.

Half win: (Stake/2 x Odds) + Stake/2
Half loss: Stake/2 returned

Lines, odds and scores all come from you. The tool doesn’t fetch any data.

Worked examples

1
Backing the underdog at +0.25
Beginner

$40 on the underdog at +0.25, odds 2.05. That’s $20 on +0 and $20 on +0.5. The match ends 1-1. The +0 half is refunded and the +0.5 half wins.

Payout = $20 + $41 = $61 | Profit = $21 (half win)

If the underdog wins, both halves win and you get $82 back. If they lose, both halves lose.

2
Favourite to win by two at -1.5
Intermediate

$50 on the favourite at -1.5, odds 2.40. A 2-0 win gives an adjusted score of 0.5-0.

Payout = $120 | Profit = $70

A 1-0 win isn’t enough. After the handicap it’s -0.5, so the bet loses.

3
The refund on -1
Advanced

$60 on the favourite at -1, odds 1.80. They win 2-1, exactly one goal clear.

Push: the $60 stake is refunded

A 3-1 win pays $108. A draw or a defeat loses the bet.

Questions people ask

QWhat does push or void mean?

Your stake comes back in full: no win, no loss. On a whole line it happens when the adjusted difference is exactly zero.
QAsian vs European handicap?

A European handicap still has a draw, so three outcomes after the handicap, and never refunds. An Asian handicap removes the draw with half lines, refunds on whole lines, and adds quarter lines for finer steps.
QWhat's a quarter-goal line?

A line like -0.25, -0.75 or +1.25. Your stake is split into two halves on the two nearest lines, so -0.25 is half on 0 and half on -0.5. That’s where half wins and half losses come from.
QDo lines work the same in-play?

Mostly yes. Check whether your bookmaker counts goals from kick-off or only from the moment you bet. Many in-play Asian lines count only the goals scored after your bet is placed.
QIs the 0 line the same as draw no bet?

Yes. A 0 handicap wins if your team wins, refunds on a draw, and loses if they lose. That’s exactly how draw no bet works.
