What this calculator does

Odds are just a different way of writing a payout. This converter turns decimal or fractional odds plus a stake into two numbers you actually care about: how much comes back if the bet wins, and how much of that is profit.

It also handles each-way bets. You’ll mostly see these on football outright markets, like the league winner or the Golden Boot, where you can be paid out if your pick finishes in the top few places. Half the stake goes on the win and half on the place, and the place part pays a fraction of the full odds.

Use it to check a payout before you commit, or to compare prices quoted in different formats.

Step by step

1
Pick a format
Decimal (like 2.75) or fractional (like 7/4).
2
Type the odds
Copy the price exactly as it appears on the betting slip.
3
Add your stake
The amount you would put on the bet.
4
OptionalEach-way?
Switch it on for outright or top-scorer bets, then choose the place terms (1/4 or 1/5 of the odds).
5
Check the result
Return and profit update as you type.

The maths behind it

Everything is calculated in your browser. Nothing you type is sent anywhere.

Return = Stake x Decimal Odds
Profit = Return - Stake

Place Odds = (Decimal Odds - 1) x Place Fraction + 1
Each-Way Outlay = Stake x 2
Each-Way Return (winner) = Win Return + Place Return

To turn fractional odds into decimal, divide the top number by the bottom number and add 1. So 7/4 = 1.75 + 1 = 2.75.

Worked examples

1
A straight bet on a home win
Beginner

You put $20 on the home side at 2.75 (7/4).

Return = $55 | Profit = $35

If the home side draws or loses, you lose the $20.

2
Each-way on the Golden Boot
Intermediate

A striker is 13.00 (12/1) to finish top scorer, each-way at 1/4 odds for the top 3. You stake $10 each-way, so $20 in total. The place odds are (12 x 0.25) + 1 = 4.00.

Finishes top scorer: $130 + $40 = $170 back (profit $150)

Finishes 2nd or 3rd: $40 back (profit $20)

3
Same bet, two formats
Advanced

One site quotes 1.91 for over 2.5 goals. Another quotes 21/20. Converted, 21/20 = 2.05.

2.05 pays $14 more on a $100 stake

Formats can hide which price is better. Converting them side by side shows it straight away.

Questions people ask

QDecimal vs fractional: what's the real difference?

Decimal odds include your stake in the number: 2.75 means $2.75 back for every $1 staked. Fractional odds show only the profit: 7/4 means $7 profit for every $4 staked. They describe exactly the same payout.

QWhat about American odds like +150 or -200?

They aren’t built into this tool yet. You can convert them yourself. For positive odds, divide by 100 and add 1, so +150 = 2.50. For negative odds, divide 100 by the number and add 1, so -200 = 1.50.

QWhy does each-way double my stake?

An each-way bet is really two bets of the same size: one on your pick winning, one on it placing. A “$10 each-way” bet costs $20.

QDoes this tool use live odds?

No. It works only with the numbers you enter. To see current prices for a fixture, open the match page on LiveScores24x7.
